THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ROUTES

The Aakvlaai

Enjoying nature in calm waters

From the boarding location, it is a 1.5-hour boat trip to the entrance of the Biesbosch. The Aakvlaai is the first area encountered, you sail past the Amer power station and turn right into the area. It is a pleasant stop to start or end your log cabin boat adventure.

As soon as you leave the Meuse, you immediately enter calmer waters. The Aakvlaai is man-made, a number of islands have been realised surrounded by dykes where nature is given free rein. Narrow creeks and wide gullies with beautiful vistas flow between the freely accessible islands. The banks consist of sandy beaches and picnic meadows. Special jetties have also been installed for you to use. Mooring in the countryside is of course the most fun but from here you can also go to the marina in Hank if necessary. You can use the facilities there and eat out at the restaurant.

Meanwhile, the area is overgrown with willows and colourful flowers and deer, hares and beavers have been spotted. Osprey and peregrine falcon have also been seen there. You can therefore have fun canoeing or supping here, with a good chance of running into one of these regulars.
